Ducklings Level Classes - children who aged 3 years to their 5th birthday

Ducklings Swimming Lessons offer a safe and fun introduction to the water for our youngest swimmers. The program is designed to build water confidence in children from the beginning, ensuring that they feel secure in and around the water. The swimming classes last for 30 minutes, with a maximum of six children per class to ensure that each child receives individual attention from the instructor.

The Duckling program consists of five different stages, starting with an introduction to entering the water without parental support. As the program progresses, children learn basic swimming movements and skills, becoming more independent and familiar with the pool. To help beginners transition to swimming non-aided, back floats are used that can be removed one layer at a time.

The teachers at Ducklings Swimming Lessons use toys, floats, and fun activities to engage the students in imaginary play. Unlike other swim schools, our teachers are in the water at all levels, often with the support of an assistant at beginner levels. They ensure that the activities are always safe and that the children's confidence levels are maintained. The primary focus of our beginner swimming lessons is to build confidence in and around the water, which is an essential life skill.

In conclusion, Ducklings Swimming Lessons offer a safe and fun water activity for children. The lessons are structured to build water confidence in children, and the program progresses gradually to develop basic swimming movements and skills. The teachers use toys, floats, and fun activities to engage the children's imaginations while maintaining their safety and confidence levels.

Swim School Rules

  • Appropriate Swim Wear

Please ensure your child attends lessons wearing appropriate swimwear.

Swim shorts that are below the knee and bikinis are not allowed and may result in your child being unable to participate in lessons

  • Changing Room Use

Please note that once children are aged 8+ they must use the correct gender-changing area, even if this means they are unaccompanied in the changing area.

We request that when assisting small children parents should use the correct gender-changing area for the adult, not the child. At some of our venues the changing facilities are also used by adults either before or after our lessons.

  • Swim hats & goggles

Swim hats are compulsary for all children aged 3+ years old. You could choose to use the swim hat from your joining pack or an alternative.  This is to aid in providing a hygienic swimming environment and to keep hair out of children's faces.

If your child would like to wear goggles they are welcome to do so. Most children in Neptune Swim School do choose to wear goggles.

Goggles and swim hats approved by the Neptune team can be purhased from Neptune Swim Shop and delivered to lessons.

  • Photography

All photography during swimming lessons is strictly prohibited.

If your child has a class teddy or homework that requires a photo of them at swimming, please contact the class teacher at the start of the lessons and we will arrange for a photo to be taken in a quiet section of the pool.

  • Sickness Policy

We politely ask all customers to refrain from bringing their children to swimming lessons if they have had sickness and or diarrhoea in the last 48 hours.

Children with chickenpox are only permitted to swim once all the spots have dried up.
