Training for the Level 2 Certificate in Swim Teaching takes place for a minimum of 28 hours with an assessment that concludes the course. There is a mixture of classroom based and water based learning. The course involves a lot of moving around working on skills such as stroke demonstrations, understanding Health and Safety requirements and teaching practices and points. We, therefore, suggest you wear clothes which are suitable for this purpose.

Examination process
The STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming is tutor assessed through the completion of worksheets, schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson evaluation forms and practical teaching.
In addition to this, there is an external assessment of a 30-minute practical lesson on the final day of the course. This is assessed by an independent examiner
