Hydro Helps

Whatever your health or fitness needs, Hydrotherapy can help you feel more like yourself again! Whether you have specific goals or you're simply looking to keep your body and mind in good health, hydrotherapy can help you. Here at Neptune Aquatics we're passionate about the benefits of warm water exercise.

What is hydrotherapy?
Put simply, hydrotherapy is exercise in water, this exercise can range in intensity depending on your goals and fitness levels. Warm-water hydrotherapy takes place in specialised pools heated to 32-35 degrees, this temperature is much warmer than conventional swimming pools.

Here are just a few of the life changing benefits of hydrotherapy;
  • Relief from ongoing pain
  • Improved recovery after surgery
  • Improved ability when walking
  • Weight loss
  • Increased levels of fitness
  • Stronger muscles
  • Improved joint movement
  • Reduced fear of falling
  • Increased confidence in mobility
  • Feeling relaxed!
  • More speedy recovery from sports injury
  • Maintaining mental health

Here are some of the many ways hydro has helped Neptune's customers.

What conditions can hydrotherapy treat?

Hydrotherapy can be used to treat a wide range of conditions. It can help those who are looking to improve fitness, feel relaxed and lose weight and is also invaluable for people who are living with life-long debilitating conditions. It can even help in recovery after surgery or injury. The list of things hydro can help with is long, here are just a few:

  • Arthritis
  • Rehabilitation following surgery
  • Musculoskeletal conditions
  • Neurological conditions
  • Back pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Strokes and head injuries
  • Sports injury
  • Stress
  • Fitness
  • Weight loss

How does it work?

The warm water affects your body in a number of ways. Firstly the warmth can have a soothing effect, relieving your pain whilst you’re in the pool. The warmer temperature of the water also increases your circulation allowing increased movement of your joints; above what may be achievable on dry land. The water’s hydrostatic pressure also supports your weight, which allows for greater mobility and confidence for many who are less able when they’re not in the water. The water also provides its own gentle resistance, allowing your muscles to increase in strength. Depending upon your specific needs, the type of exercise programme you follow might be very different, using simply the resistance of the water or by adding in weights and floats.

Here at Neptune our expert team can help guide you through the benefits of hydrotherapy and choose a session that's right for your needs. Our Fitness Team can even help prepare a personalised hydrotherapy programme with exercises tailored to your physical ability and goals.
