Aquatic Courses @ Neptune Education and Training 

If you want to be an inspirational and professional Swimming Teacher, the STA can help you achieve the qualifications you need to pursue this rewarding career.


Swimming Teacher qualifications are designed specifically to ensure swimming teachers are qualified to the highest level.  The rigorous courses are the qualifications required to gain employment as a Swimming Teacher, designed specifically for those who want to confidently teach non swimmers, beginners and improvers of all ages. 


All of the STA qualifications that we provide sit on and Credit Framework at Level 2 with Ofqual, and both have SQA accreditation, which means you will have attained a high level of aptitude.

STA Level 2 Award in Swim Teaching (minimum of 16 years of age)

A STA Level 2 Award in Swimming Teaching enables you to teach up to 10 beginners or work as an assistant with larger classes. 


It also enables you to teach advanced skills under the supervision of a swimming teacher who holds the STA certificate.

STA Level 2 Certificate in Swim Teaching (minimum of 17 years of age)

The Swimming Teaching - Certificate aims to prepare holders to teach, without supervision, learners of all levels. 

Teachers will need to hold the STA Award in Swim Teaching before progressing onto the certificate course.

STA Baby and Pre-school Course (minimum of 18 years of age)

This is a stand alone course which will allow the holders  of the Baby and Pre-School qualification to teach aquatic activities, including paddle strokes to babies and pre-school children during adult and children lessons

STA Teaching People with Disabilities
 Course (minimum of 18 years of age )  

The People with Disabilities qualification aims to train candidates to teach aquatic activities to individuals and groups with most types of disabilities.

STA Aquatic Tutors  (minimum of 19 years of age)

The Aquatic Tutor qualification aims to train those with the appropriate pre-requisites to teach and examine STA’s Aquatic qualifications within their discipline.



Continual Professional Development 

CPDs (Continuing Professional Development) is essential for all swimming teachers to ensure they are up to date with the latest techniques, FINA Law updates and strategies for working with children.  Our comprehensive CPD programs can be run for your own staff at your venue or via our open training courses run throughout the year. This courses can be tailored to meet your requirements or can cover subjects such as:
